Overview Chamomile is a gentle herb known throughout most of the world which has been used continually for many centuries. It is often ingested as a tea for calming purposes and to soothe the digestive tract, and is mild enough to be administered to babies. Chamomile is soothing to the skin, reduces acne, reduces the appearance of dark circles, packed with antioxidants, helps with dandruff, lightens the skin and hair, treats cold.

Typical usage and preparations Use as a tea, tincture, or powdered and encapsulated. Can be infused in oil for topical application. Use as a herbal hair rinse and herbal bath. Tea infusion when chilled could be used as a skin tonic. Infuse vinegar with chamomile for skin and hair care (dilute with water before usage).

Precautions While chamomile is considered safe, side effects such as nausea and vomiting may result from tea made with high concentrations of chamomile. Allergies related to daisy and aster plant family may indicate an allergy to chamomile; consult your physician prior to drinking the tea. Pollen allergies, such as hay fever or ragweed, may also indicate a potential allergy to chamomile. If you take blood thinner medications you should avoid drinking chamomile tea. May cause eye irritation.
